Wondering what are people's experiences of skiing in Davos in early April. Seems like the only time I can take off as well as find reasonable accommodation is the first 2 weeks of April. What is like? Is it too late for a decent snow in general?
I know it's hard to predict and varies from year to year, but what are the typical expectations of people?
Jawad.

Good question!
Why Davos: Been there before, like it (or at least pleasantly tolerate it), know people who can rent me a studio at a good rate, etc. Went there in March '07 and it was good fun. (I'm only an intermediate skier, so not hugely fussy.)
Why April: Either too busy before that or don't want to pay an arm and a leg for accommodation.
Having said all that, I'd be happy if you can suggest another place in Europe for the 1st two weeks of April. (Just checked davos.ch and it says the resort closes on Sunday the 13th anyway.)

Id be tempted to hit somewhere like Tignes with a glacier should there be a rubbish end to the season. Although Davos might be excellent when lots of snow i'd be wary about that far into the season. SKiclub historical snow reports show they had plent for the first 3 weeksn in April last year though!! (Not been to Davos myself)

Thanks Rossfra8,
It looks like I'm going to have to consider Davos a last resort. (No pun intended.) Unless someone here gives me a more hopeful prospect of snow in April, I should probably look at other places.
Thanks for suggesting Tignes. I shall investigate.

Whats the budget and where are you flying from?

Am in Trieste (Italy) the week before, so would prefer to fly straight from there. Flying back to London though. My GF would have to fly from London and back.
Never been to France for skiing, btw. Did consider booking something there but didn't even know where to start, i.e., where to fly to, how to get around, what is a good resort to go to, etc.
Am on a tight budget this year. Around £50 a night for a double room if poss. (Is that reasonable?)

Pass. I tend to go to Canada and just pay for it without thinking so much about price-especially not price on a nightly basis-speak to Ise he tends to be very knowledgeable about Europe, if he's not along at some point today give him a P.M
