What is everyone's favourite or most effective exercise, stretch or regime for skiing?
I'll start by saying that I am running kilometre sections interspaced with repetitions of press-ups and sit ups. Recently added squats, both two legged and one legged. Apparently the one legged ones are supposed to improve balance and leg independence, as is doing the runs on grass.
However I need some variation so I can keep motivated, so any recommendations welcome.

Unfortunately there is no substitute for weights and squats etc for maintaining strength and muscle mass, but for general fitness and balance, there are many fun sports. For me, inline skating is the best training for skiing, but also kayaking (core strength)and recently MTBing. If it isn't fun, I have trouble with motivation.
BTW squats on a wobble board are great for balance.
