Blue sky, white mountain tops and it is quite cold . Has the winter really started to arrive. THAT WOULD BE NICE! Might be a bit early to started getting excited, but it is nice to start thinking of all the good fun to be had again once the ...winter arrives.

Some other useful stuff. I have been reading through the Impact multi activity Insurance details and comparing them to the Carte Neige ones. Has anyone else done this. What do people think.

For anyone coming out by train or staying in Bourg St Maurice or would just like to try some better quality skis this winter check out Polaire Star Ski shop right by the bottom of the Funicular ticket office. You can also book online on the webpage.

In response to some questions. You can get to Bourg by train three ways. Direct from London on the Eurostar night train or day train. You can go via Paris on the Euro Star and then the TGV or overnight sleepr. There are also a few trains that change in Lille and then come direct to Bourg with the TGV.

I have registered on the Les arc web site and am going to buy before end oct but probably wanted to hear from someone else that had done it - sorry if your the guinea pig :lol: but feedback on your experience would be appreciated.

Yeah, very straight forward, no problems at all. The website isn't the fastest and I triple checked all the dates etc before confirming.
They were posted to me, took about ten days.
Use a credit card for added insurance.

was just about to buy the tickets and had a thought - with discounts the web site price is unlimited 235euro discovery 210 euro and lesarc 142euro. given that the difference for lesarc to discovery is 68euro is it possible to buy the learc pass and buy a 1 day pass for la plagne that will enable you to get across the VE? maybe picking bones here but curious.

I've lurked on here for a while but I reckon I'll pipe up for a bit as I have a les arcs dilemma. Basically want to get a discounted lift pass for my Feb trip (ta for the heads up!). Going for 7 days with a mixed ability group. I'm your standard recreational red runner, but quite keen on the skiing rather the fannying about or partying. Should I go 'unlimited' lift pass, or will 'discovery' be enough. I.e. is there enough in the les arcs bit to keep a standard bod happy? I realise you do nt know, but any opinions or experience would be great..certainly better than my current lack of Scooby.

Shipjack - Les Arcs is a substantial ski area on its own without adding la Plagne.
Plenty for a week - especially with a mixed ability group. If you would normally ski and plan to all meet up for lunch, for example, getting the most out of the whole area pass would appear difficult.
You could all go over for a day for the experience, just to say you have been.

I did several seasons in Les Arcs well before the Vanoise Express and can assure you I didn't think I was in some little resort skiing wise - the area is huge. Doubt you'll manage all of it comprehensively in a week!
