It's OK Andy, don't worry, she was on my list to hire intermediate skis and boots (adult ones because she's not so little any more!) from the hire shop in Sauze for the grand sum of 75 euros :)

I reckon a season in Soldeu costs my wife and I about £5000, but that doesn't include chewing gum.
Why is this all about getting things 'cheap'.

I think that £1000 for the week skiing is a reasonable expectation - unless of course you have kids and have to go in holiday weeks when costs will be significantly more (but you knew that when you chose to have children so arguments are null and void)

This year I paid £875 for flights/transfers/chalet board/premium ski hire/full area lift pass in VDI. Factor in one meal out for chalet host night off, the odd beer after ski before free chalet wine and maybe the odd warm lunch (but we usually just make sandwiches form chalet leftovers which they encourage)- all in all this will come out around Tony's £1000. Maybe a tad more but then I fly from Newcastle not Gatwick so there's £45 or so and I am hiring skis which is roughly twice the cost of carriage with Sleazyjet. I think that £1000 has been the mark for about 4-5 years TBH

Like Brucie though I'm not about "cheap": I'm on holiday so I relax and enjoy - I work damn hard for it the rest of the year -)

When you don't have money to burn, Brucie, you have to do things on a budget.

14 weeks in the season....5000/14 is about £360/week for two..Umm £180 a week each makes Tony_H's holiday extravagant -)

You cannot compare a season to a week!!!!!

Tone, I reckon your £1,000 for a ski week is about right.

Out of interest, I totted up what it cost for two of us to ski for a week in Alpbach two seasons ago:
Airport car parking - £35
Flights - LGW to Innsbruck - £70 with air miles
Ski carriage - £76
Bus fares - airport to railway station and return - £4
Train fares - return - £36
Lift passes - £320
Ski/boot hire - £70
Lessons - £135
B&B - £260
Lunches/dinners/drinks - approx £240



So all in, for two of us, less than £1,250 all in. Easily, and without doubt, the best value ski trip I've ever had!
