we're thinking of going there. we're a bit worried about the unstable snow condition.
last year we went to courchevel and ended up skiing mostly in val thorens.
was anyone in val d'isere last christmas? was the snow good and if not, did the resort do a good job with the snow cannons?
thanks

Tignes was much better than Val D for snow last Xmas, but the Espace as a whole was better than just about everywhere else!

Tignes and Val both did considerably better for snow than other Savoie resorts last season and in rescent years. Infact at the begining of the season many buses full of customers where arriving from Meribel, Sainte Foy and even Les Arc.
As far as I was aware the area didnt have a particularly higher amount of avalanche risk to other local resorts.

Val d'Isere is great for snow. Last winter/Christmas was also absolutely fine, just incredibly bad media!!
We got all the World Cup races so it HAD to be good
At 1850m base station this has one of the best snow guarantees of anywhere in Europe now!
Christmas though is filling up really fast
