I've not skiied there myself (yet) but I know that area (Via Lattea) has had a fair bit of investment recently, so definitely take older reviews with a pinch of salt.
When are you going? It'll be mostly about the snow when you get there...

The La Vialattea pass covers several resorts, so plenty of options, Inc 1-day in France I understand. We've just booked to go to the Borgata area of Sestriere, after much searching of where to go ⛷️

Currently in Sauze, less than half the pistes are open in the Italian sector.
If it wasn't for Montgenevre which is fully open the stats would be shocking.

Thanks NIIIXSY. Thankfully a bit of snow has been arriving and looks to have a little bit more in the next two weeks ⛷️

Great skiing to be had in Sestriere. The Kandahar being very challenging if brave enough when open. Overall very good. Personaly I would stay in Sauze as more lively . Although the skiing in Sauze, Sansicario, Sestriere,Claviere and Montgenevre is all second to none when the conditions are good and the link is open. The runs through the trees in Sauze and Sansicario are exceptional. If going to Montgenevre I would recommend driving as you would get a full day there. The lift system is a little outdated but ok.

Many thanks italski. Went to Sauze a few years ago, stayed at the Hotel Alpina. Did the runs to Sansicareo, but never made it to Sestriere. Lively and challenging are well behind me nowadays. Plenty of nice reds and blues and a bottle of red suits me fine. Thanks for the info ⛷️
