I was reminded that I did not clearly present the final waxing stage of this class.
Here it is.
Once you have "ironed" the wax, allow it to cool and harden. This should take 1 hour. Some people place waxed skis outside in cold. I do not recommend this since wax and ski base cool at different rates and wax will come off in large sections while skiing.
Once wax is cooled, pass with scrapper just once to create even smooth surface. DO NOT do this with extreme pressure.
Depending on snow surface and time of year, use coarse pad and from tip to tail pass pad in one even stroke. You thus create grooves or structures on wax.
Remember; Winter= small shallow grooves
Spring=larger deeper grooves
Using various pads you can get varied grooves.
In Spring I often use a nylon brush to create a multiple series of grooves.
Wipe gently with wipe paper. Clean off wax off steel edges.
You are done.
