Re:Boot dryers...

My first ski holiday of the season is fast approaching and I've not treated myself to anything yet!
Looking at replacing my hot rod boot dryers for some that circulate hot air instead - much more boot friendly.
What do you guys/gals out there use? I get really hot (sweaty) feet, so they need a dry out and sometimes the simple heat of the room does not cut it

Do you take the inners out overnight? If not, try that.

The boot-room dryer things seem to be everywhere now and they work for me - are they not sufficient?

Yea I take out the inners. Most of the boot room dryers that I have experienced are the hot rod thingys. Also, unless there is an individual locker, I dont like leaving my boots nicely on display ready for someone to pinch.

Also - I'm not getting notifications on email when someone replies to my post - the little box is ticked to email me when a reply is posted :(

I've heard of skis going missing but never boots. Perhaps you are being a little over careful in this respect?

No one is going to take my boots, (or skis). I have always worn single clip boots.

Most of my skis are straights, and my carvers are 2m long. I feel fairly safe.

And, if I wanted to nick a pair of boots, I might have a wee sniff, beforehand......

I use these on my husbands boots which tend to get wet and smelly. Bought them from snow and rock some years ago. Seem to do the trick as well as a dose of bicarbonate of soda when we get home.
As for boots going missing....we were guilty of this. We used to go once a year to the same hotel, my husband would always use the same space to hang his boots, and there was an old chair nearby he used to sit on and everyone made fun of him. One particular year we decided to have a second trip to the same hotel. When we arrived we took our boots down to the ski room only for him to remark that some cheeky person had taken his space . I told him not to put his boots too close as they were similar. I don't know what made us take a closer look at the other boots, maybe when I dried them out previously the orange colour inside had faded to a yellow.. Anyhow to cut a long story short he took one of the boots down to discover he had taken the wrong boots home. We confessed to the hotel manager who said that a Dutch guest had complained his boots had been stolen. The boots were still there the following January.

I have some boot driers which contain lots of silica gel. Work quite well.
