Heading off to Selva in February and have been looking at skihire prices. The ones I have seen quoted online seem very high - similar to the highly inflated St Anton prices:x .
Is that normal? Anyone got tips for better value hire? Is it better to wait until we get there or is online as good as it gets?

We had our skis from Olga too.Brand new ones and changing no problem. Prebooked at a very reasonable price although it was pre high season (17-24 Dec)and it was 5 of us renting. They don't have snowboards, rest of our family group hired the snowboards from the rental nearby (can't remember the name) recommended by Klaus.

Hi Wanderer.
Stayed at the Zenit (see map) in January 2017, just a short 5 minute stroll to the "Ski Walter" shop, where we swapped our sensible footwear for our own ski boots and skis every day, which cost us €5 per 24 hrs to keep them there, (so much nicer to walk about in sensible boots ).
A very friendly manager and his staff in a small ski/skiboot/helmet rental/service shop, who dried and disinfected everyone's ski boots every evening.
Just across the road (50metres) is the "Nives" drag lift, which takes you up to the Dantercepies main Gondola lift and then into the clockwise circuit.
Was a popular shop, although a little squashed inside, (sometimes we just booted up outside the shop), so am guessing the service/prices were good.
Hope this helps.

Ski Olga is the best in town in my experience. Run by Klaus Ranguldier and situated next to the Antares apartments on the main street.
