The size of that is difficult to comprehend and this picture of one of the recovery digs (the victims were under more than 8m of snow) has to be one of the most chilling images I've seen in a while. Credits unknown but reproduced here to remind us all that there is a lot of snow up high, and there will be more avalanches of this size in coming days.

BBC saying 3 killed in an avalanche in Austria. No further details yet.

Looks huge. Same face slid last year, according to someone on Snowheads.
