New Kickstarter project maps every ski resort in Europe

We see plenty of 'Kickstarter' campaigns, but this one looks interesting.

Set up by a team of passionate skiers from Hamburg, Germany, Marmota Maps claim to be the first ever map of the Alps with every ski resort on it.

We guess it depends on your definitions, as to whether this exists already or not, but this has been a labour of love.

"We mapped 636 ski resorts – by hand," the Marmota team told us. "Then we added blue, red and black piste kilometers and height data for each resort. Finally we added 30 marvellous mountain illustrations."

Their Kickstart campaign starts tomorrow on October 16. Have a look at their video and decide what you think:

More than 2,000 ski areas in the Alps, and several companies have already digitally mapped all of them, so yes it depends on definitions of what is a ski area and what sort of mapping :) ...but yes, great project and good luck to them!
