We are thinking about trying Valmeinier mid January. There should now be some snow but can anyone offer any comment on the skiing in that area as it's new for us.

Depends on your ability. Good for intermediates, limited for advanced. Valmenier is only really a hamlet with not a lot there, but it is linked to Valloire, which is much better as a village and for skiing. We have been to Valloire for the last 14 years so we must like it. Largely undiscovered by the Brits as well.

Just returned from Valmeinier. First ever ski holiday. Thought it was famtastic.

Ski in and out of accommodation. Food was okay, plenty of small supermarkets or restaurants to try.

We spent the day (beginners), doing a run, stopped for refreshments, then spent the rest of the day ski-ing.

The last section down to the start of the tows was not great for beginners.

Very few British there and a knowledge of French helps.
