Winterhighland wrote:... Glencoe restarts the 2012 West Coast Season on Thursday Morning & CairnGorm Mountain continues to be open daily.
The week started with a fantastic bluebird day on CairnGorm Mountain on Monday, ahead of an overnight storm that brought significant further snow falls and finally some drifting to the mountains of Highland Scotland.
Sufficient snow has now blown into the top tow tracks at Glencoe to allow the Main Basin T-bar to run and Glencoe will reopen at 9.30 on Thursday morning. The best riding is expected to be on the Main Basin, Happy Valley and Etive Glades. The Wall which has something of a base is probably the best route down the mid-mountain. All unpisted with a further light covering of fresh already this evening.
If heading to Glencoe, why not take maximum advantage of the return of winter and get more than one day on the slopes, the fantastic Glencoe Hotel is under 15 minutes from the slopes.
CairnGorm Mountain is now offering top to Sheiling riding with 1200ft of vertical served by the M1 Poma, Coire na Ciste and Ptarmigan T-bars and the Polar Express Trainer Tow, plus Funicular for access. All Top Basin runs are in decent shape with fresh snow, a mix of windblown, skier packed and machine packed powder on a firm base.
Mid Mountain the M1 RaceTrack is pisted fence to fence above the timing hut and the Traverse, 105 and Upper Cas are also providing alternative routes to the mid-station. White Lady is skiable for advanced riders.
