Any help would be gratefully received. We are planning a last minute week and thought Flaine looks good. Any experience of Flaine for: skiing - we are good intermediate? apres ski? The place we are looking at is Flaine Foret - any good?

Thanks in anticipation

Flaine will be a good place for a late deal. Always some good snow and plenty to go at on a massive area.

I just came back last week and i am in the process of writing a report but its slow going. Where are you looking at staying in foret?

The skiing was awesome, there was no new snow while we were there and the off piste is all tracked and packed but conditions are brilliant. The skiing in the Les Carroz area is stunning in the trees.

Apres is crap but i didn't care as i don't go to get hammered, i like to get up at 7:30 and get out there.

Don't think about it, book it.

Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

I went to flaine a couple of years ago for a ski weekend. We did a DIY trip and booked at la foret (pierres vacances I think). We had a good dump of snow and it ended up being one of my favourite ski breaks. We had done the big holiday earlier in the year with all the apres and partying, and te flaine trip was perfect as we just did lots of great ski and chilled in the evening.

The ski area is great, and that accomodation has everything you need- shop, boot room and pretty much walk out straight to piste. Apres is quite, and if apres is deciding factor go to Tignes.

I couldn't recommend it more.
Enjoy

Thanks for the replies, we are looking at staying in the Residence de la foret (pierres vacances?) so will be self catering, is eating out expensive ? if we cant be bothered to cook! Also we're not bothered about partying, just a beer or 2 in a decent bar, any suggestions?

We skied in flaine as a family at new year.
Yes it's very expensive to eat out but we used the local spar to buy food . You can order on line or you can even go in the shop and pay and they will delved after 6pm. Useful f you have lads of beers etc

Skiing is great for intermediates. We are going back withOut the kds next week, staying at montsoleil apartments.Sister Hotel to yours, very good

Lifts can be a bit slow and not as modern as some resorts but conditions look like they will be fantastic. Plenty to do across whole are

Snow forecast lasted this week. Sme sunshine would be nice as we had 1.5 meters fall in 3 days at new year. Great off paste just couldn't see.

Apres is rubbish. Couple of decent bars, the white pub is ok , think other be is the flying Dutchman or soemthing similar.... Beer and a Bacardi and coke 17 euros. We didn't go out a lot

Enjoy the hols ! W are already booking again next year and we have skied all over... Don't expect pretty French village though
