Anyone familiar with Les Carroz ski resort as we're going there in three weeks' time? Taking a 4 year old to ski ( will be 5 in March and has completed a kindergarten course in Austria) but was wondering which ski school / course is better.
Also, any help on ski hire shops would be helpful. Is it necessary to book online where there seems to be a 50% discount or is there really no difference whether you book in advance or not.
Thanks for any help.

I'd speak to Catherine Pouppeville - www.skicat74.com
She specializes in teaching kids and has given our son private lessons for the last 3 years. He's had ESF lessons in the mornings (in Flaine where we have stayed) and 2 or 3 privates with Catherine. She is excellent.
She would probably also be happy to guide you between ESF and ESI in Les Carroz as she will know both well. Don't wait till you get there though!

Great resort conditions are excellent and should stay that way now for sometime, do book ski hire online and get discounts, have not used ski school for many years friend used esf in Morillon last year and they were very good, just make sure English speaking, first discovered resort 10 years ago did not hear much Enlish being spoken at that time but here are more visitors to the area now, have a great time,

Hello ! We have run a tour operator business here for 5 years www.skiology.co.uk.
Initially we worked with ESI as some our our clients were not so keen on ESF however 3 years ago due to a paperwork issue a lot of ESI instructors moved to ESF so we now work with ESF.
We believe the instructor really makes the difference and we would highly recommend asking for Nico, Yohanne or Borris.
Have a great break

Hi. I have been to Les Carroz for the last 3 years and really enjoyed it with a mixed group. Going to Morillon this year, so skiing the same patch. Conditions have been great, other than last year, late January, when there had been little snow. It is looking great now(look at the web cams and at the piste openings/weather etc: http://www.grand-massif.com/hiver. My daughter (who was 16 at the time, so older than yours) used Nouvelle Dimension, rather than ESF as the latter had a poor reputation with english speakers at the time. I don't know the others, so I can't really comment. On equipment hire we have always booked in advance and saved as a result - Alpes Attitude were good (but they do have some..!)
Good things about the resort - really easy access from Geneva, not too much apres ski (doesn't interest me - I can drink at home, I go there to ski). Only two ways back to the resort, Coombe, a blue and Timalet, a red. Coombe was closed last year, so Timalet was very busy. You can get back via the gondola. Lots to ski - Marvel is a great green.

I returned from a weeks skiing in Les Carroz, fantastic conditions. For ski hire I would recommend skimium shops (there are two in the village), see http://les-carroz.skimium.co.uk/.
Most of the staff speak English and skis and boots can be pre-ordered with good discounts (plus a group discount), thereby speeding up pick-up on the first day. We generally go to Skilimandjaro (its closer to the apartment) where Frederick always provides an excellent and friendly service.
