Same here!!! Although it was skiing that caused the hurty knee in the first place when I knitted my legs together and Mr jocrad74 had to untie them for me - oops!!!

Boarder wiped me out a couple of eyars ago, he was uphill of me and should have given way, except he was looking up-piste and had his back to me.

Long story short, mahoosive bruise on my calf where his board slammed into me/my ski boot, he did ask if I was okay but then sped off.

Frightened the living daylights out of me and ruined our last day as I was pretty much out of action, added to that my gaffer had badly broken her leg skiing not 2 weeks previously to this. Couple of inches higher and I'd have had asmashed knee. Still a bit cautous when I hear the scrape of a board behind me....

In all conditions, no matter what the lower skier does - uphill skiers gives way.

However daft, unpredictable, plain crazy is the "route" of the lower skier - uphill gives way and avoids.

end of ........

I have to say I am in complete agreement with this ...however there are exceptions notably when a boarder on his back edge jumps onto the piste (off the lip) with his back to you i.e. not looking uphill ..What can you do? very nasty incident here last year involving this action
P.S. This is not a dig at boarders in any way could be a skier but the stance on a board makes you more "uphill blind"

Cheers bedrockbarney, it's what I expected, was in L2A again in january, seems to be simialr kind of prices for many things. I'm tempted by the "Les Sorbier" hotel (think that's its name!) but it's B&B only, hence my question about eating out. Not too bothered about drinks prices as can't t\ke it at altitude, half a bottle of wine with dinner and I'm done!

Thanks for the info.

What would you say were typical costs for maybe a large beer, pizza, pasta dish, bottle of wine. Not bothered about fancy pants restaurants, quite happy with low key. I think we're decided on Vd'I but would just like to dot the i's, etc.

Cheers for your help.

Glass of beer was 5 euros (I think it was a half litre glass = 0.9 pints). We tended to head for the Blue Note Bar for apres ski.

We had a couple of meals out but s/c the rest of the week. Bar Jacques was pretty decent and nicely tucked down a side street. Pizza was about 12 euros from memory. Had a half bottle of Bordeaux one night which was 14 euros  Very nice though. We had no change out of 50 euros for a shared starter, two main dishes, a bottle of wine and two espressos. The big showoff restaurant prices were much higher. Pizza from a takeaway was cheaper but not exactly living it up! We did see one youth eating a whole roast chicken outside of the supermarket which was very amusing.

I thought it was a great resort. Not too busy as well but we were there low season.

Unbelievable...who were you supposed to be flying with? Was it a package you booked or separate elements? Defo seek compensation I would say!!

Ditto the comment on Skyscanner, love this sire and use it a lot for getting ideas on costs for any flight only bookings we're looking at.

Choosing a ski resort

Three main points for me;

- availability of runs/kms of piste suitable for what I want
- not a huge transfer, under 3 hours preferable
- a resort where you don't have to get buses to the ski ares, or journey between areas a great deal.
