I can't speak for 3V but we were in Val D'Isere the first week of January. My British ski instructor was telling me how busy it had been and how glad he was that the crowds had gone home for a few weeks before the half term weeks hit.

Unfortunately I think it's a given that the crowds will be out in force...

bootbag lugage ?

Same here Tony_H, our suitcases were 18kg and 19kg respectively last month, my boots in one, hubbies board bindings in another. His boots, trousers, both our jackets and one or two other things in the board bag, "under" jackets, couple of hoodies, my trousers padded out my ski bag.

I'm sure if we had to get all that in just suitcases we'd be over the limit, and it's not like we're taking unnecessary stuff. Wear one pair of jeans, take another, wear the boots/shoes you intend to wear in the evenings. Very easy to get to 20kg.
Snow in Borovets 16th March.

Have been in March several years ago, lower slopes can suffer as it was very mild. The main street down through town was like a river with snow melt. Saying that, up the gondola, the snow was good.

Have been to LDA at the end of Jan last year, not too busy on the slopes but it was very very cold....-30 on the last day with windchill!!

Have also been in March twice, lower slopes differed a lot between the two visits due to the weather, but slopes from Cretes area upwards were brilliant on boht occasions.

Dobby, why do you say LDA better late in the season - as compared to ADH? I do understand ADH suffers in warmer weather because of the slope direction, was this what you meant?
gloves

I have Reynauds syndrome, get blood loss to fingers and toes so get cold quickly. I use the glove liners as an extra layer, because you can slip your main gloves off if you need to go in your pocket/bag for something, and you're not exposing your skin to the cold as much then.

I have a pair of Barts gloves I got from Ellis Brigham, I think, and with the glove liners I had no problems in LDA last year when it was -30 with windchill.
Anyone in Schladming?

Horrible accident, Mr Jocrad74 is a bit of a wimp when limbs bend in ways they shouldn't, every time they repeated it in slow-mo he hid behind his hands.

And ditto the comments, very brave of Chemmy in rotten conditions. Here's hoping Lindsey makes a good recovery.

Tony_H, what are you looking for reds/blacks? Plenty of red runs...
