Snow

In my 20 or so years of sking I have only once been caught out once with crap snow, I can't even remember the name of the resort but I know it was Austria and as it was with a group I had to go with the majority.

It's not entirely down to inexperience, I know that to get reasonable snow I have to go high, but it's not always possible for me in particular. We have a budget to stick to and with that budget we have to book late which often means less choice. Unfortunately we can't go in January when some of the best deals are because of work (booo!)

Last year I ended up in Niederau which is only about 850m at resort level because we booked late and it was all we could get for our budget, fortunately the snow was skiable even lower down and I had a great time.

I'm just grateful that I can go skiing, even if it's not pefect.

Hello and welcome to our little world, you've come to the right place for advice (mostly). And good luck with the first ski holiday, hope you both have a great time.

I have only been to La Plagne out of your three choices, and as a seasoned skier I found it covered all my needs, hopefully you will get to explore once you have found your ski feet.

I can't actually remember much about La Plagne apart from it being a bit of a concrete jungle and the bobsleigh apres ski trip you can do from there (by coach).

Someone with more useful information will be along shortly, just wanted to bump it up so people can reply.

Happy sking!
Chemmy does Dancing on Ice

For those of you missing Chemmy Alcott on the slopes this season, she's signed up for Dancing on Ice starting this weekend:

Hopefully no further injuries will transpire and she might come out of it with a lovely trophy at the end.

Never watch it myself, but thought someone might be interested, particularly the men who miss her in lycra.
Who here feels rough?

Its the poo monkey. He steals all your money, knocks you over the head, throws your clothes all over the room and poos in your mouth.

So naughty.

I felt ok yesterday, possibly still a bit tipsy, had quite a civilised dinner with friends (my drinking partner in crime is pregnant so that might have something to do with it), had another turkey dinner yesterday and the last wine of the month. On the wagon for the whole of January (apart from my birthday).

Happy New Year!

PS - TH hows the holiday hunt going? Quite a few bargains around I've seen.
Are you a hottie?

The cold is damper here, I always feel it more too.

And don't you find that once it gets past about -20 it all feels the same?
