I'm ski-ing next Sunday but won't be in LGB or whatever it's called.

I'll be in A, then L, then L!
Another long shot!

But here goes....

Is anyone going to be in Arosa from Jan 24 to Jan 28 who might like to join up to do the three-resorts-in-a-day tour with the Private Ski School?

Costs could be shared and it might be a bit more sociable.

Looks like really good fun - and not too technically difficult. See the pictures on the Arosa thread.

Anyone interested - and I appreciate it's a long shot - please send me a private message.
Lake Tahoe transfers
Started by User in USA, 8 Replies
A couple of years ago, I went to South Lake Tahoe and had a great time in the various ski areas. I didn't want the burden of a car and so opted for a coach transfer from San Francisco airport. It turned out to be a 'jumbo' 4x4 people carrier, but it was just about perfect. Skied in the likes of Kirkwood, Sierra and Squaw using the reliable bus links.

I'd like to go there again, but all the travel operators I have tried only offer the self-drive option. Google search doesn't come up with any alternative.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions. I've already ruled out flying to Reno instead of SF!

Thanks for any assistance.
Best runs Saas Fee

Start on the nursery slopes - then when you're ready head for Platjen, which is to the left of the nursery area as you stand with your back to the village. (Saas Fee's skiing all comes back to the same area, just about).

There's a lot of cruising stuff all over the rest of the mountain, as well.

Saas Fee has a massive nursery area served by a number of drag lifts at the foot of the ski area. Ideal for all beginners.

However, the ski school used to have an annoying practice of not holding lessons on Sundays. So for absolute beginners that was a wasted day with lessons starting on Mondays. Worth checking.

Intermediates are spoilt for choice with loads of runs; my favourites are off the Plattjen gondola lift. Little queuing, quieter pistes, wide, open and fast.

The day trip to the smaller area of Saas Grund is also definitely worth doing.
Snow canons? Is that a new branch the Church of England has set up to help out during the current bad weather?

Snow cannons, of course, are a different thing - and Alpe D'Huez has lots that are well used in March and April. I went there during a mild spell in March and the grooming was excellent, no closures or bare patches.

This is the Lindsey Vonn who the Austrian press this week described as "overweight" and "fat". She responded with two downhill and one super-G victories! Well done, Tubs!

Most insurance policies will allow purchases of essential kit if your bags are delayed. That could well include ski clobber.
