Just back from a smashing week in Arosa; uncrowded, first significant snow in the Graubunden for more than a month, adding up to wonderful conditions.
Will post a pic or two when I get organised, but had to laugh when the trains were running late on the way home - and flights were significantly affected at Zurich Airport on Friday. Why? Snow ( I thought it was only the UK that was adversely affected by snow!!!!) :D |

This week has dragged - now it's two more wake-ups and I'm on my way.
Skis are edged, waxed and bagged up; Swiss Rail transfer ticket filled in; arrival time notification e-mail sent to hotel. Petrol in the car. All done early as I have a big rugby day tomorrow - and leave home at 2am on Sunday!! Can't wait. |

Thank you, Eric. Will do.
Only four days to the Swiss Alps - and it's bloody snowing here again! |

Where are you Bandida? (Can't wait til Sunday to ski again in Switzerland!)
Eric, I've just read the reviews of your place on trip advisor. I will definitely try to stay with you next time; sounds superb! |

Thank you, gentlemen. Most interesting and inspirational - looks like we'll have to do it.
Eric: looked at the Ski Lodge, but sadly you had no rooms for the dates we wanted. Full up with lots of Swedes, I expect! :) is there a choice of guide companies in Engelberg? I've looked at the tourist office website and that was not terribly helpful! |

Unfortunately, my ski plans for the next fortnight have been forced to change -meaning won't be able to visit Laax or Lenzerheide  the week after next. Just left with a six-day trip to Arosa instead.
And as some compensation, have booked a five dayer break to Engelberg early march (hotel through the J2 service). I'd like to do the famous/infamous Laub this time (conditions have always been marginal before). Can any J2er give me a realistic assessment of its difficulties/tips etc? Thank you. |

Does anyone else think Alpe D'Huez could become the new Niederau on this forum?

Went to Alpe D'Huez in 1999; spent one day with a Ski Club rep doing nothing but steep, black runs! Fantastic.
Agree with you Tony that it should be in the big league alongside Val D'Isere and the Three Valleys. I preferred it to the more highly regarded Les Arcs and La Plagne, I think. |
