Further to the above, just received this e-mail

Many thanks for your email.

The lifts on Titlis are open at the moment and the conditions are because of snow fall the last few days very good.

It depends on the weather how long the lifts will be open, but for next week it looks pretty good. If you want to inform you short term, please check: www.titlis.ch

Best regards and hopefully see you soon in Engelberg.

Definitely ain't over just yet....looking at magnificent conditions in Engelberg on the webcams....hands hovering over the keyboard to book a flight and hotel for later this week! I understand their winter ski season runs until May 25!

What a season it has been - and more to come I hope!
Ski Area bans aggressive carving !

Sounds like a bit of American over-reaction to me!!!

Not likely to visit Welch Village (don't think the skiing in Wales is much good anyway! ) so not really too bothered!
Canada Vs. Europe...

Spent four weeks in Fernie; desperate to leave by the end when the snow had turned to slush and new runs were closing every minute (only in mid-March,I'm afraid).

Visited other resorts as well (Kimberley, White Mountain across the border in Montana) and have to say although they have some top-class ski-ing, they are very small by the standards of the major European ski circuses.10 days is more than enough in each; a whole season might be a bit too much. You might be better off in the Lake Louise/Banff area.
Finding that Rare Pearl

With all the dollars, centers and meters, this pearl of a resort (or ski centre, if you prefer!) seems to be in the United States....

I'll plump for somewhere a little closer to home for my pearl - Arosa in the Graubunden, Swisserland. It's officially a pearl as well, being one of the select few resorts (or centres!) to be part of the Alpine Pearl syndicate. It's got everything I want in a ski resort (including a lap dancing club!!!!!!!)
Saas Fee Closed?
Started by User in Switzerland, 5 Replies
Sadly, due to its exposed and glacial nature, closures happen all too often at Saas Fee. Been there on four different trips over the years - and it's happened at least once every time.

On the last occasion, we were having lunch near Maste 4 on a snowy day. The piste patrol came into the restaurant and ordered us to ski down immediately as the mountain was being closed.

Still have a soft spot for the place, though....
