resorts to ski in near livigno

Never actually done it, but Bormio is only a 40km drive straight down a single road (might have a few turn offs to get to the lifts, but the town is accessed on a single road).

Left & Right Skis

Now I can take on board all these different comments, but I guess what I really wondered, was that if you use your skis continuously on the same feet, will they eventually bed into your skiing style and become (for want of a better description) more comfortable. A bit like how your shoes mould to your feet after a bit of breaking in.

However, the downside I could see would be that over a period of time, you could end up knackering one side of the ski faster than the other. Especially as I can be heavy on my downhill inside edge.

I don't think my Blackeyes have a cosmetic pattern difference, so it would not be to simply maintain a pattern.

OK, following on from some comments in the thread about pole tip damage to bindings, I am looking for peoples input on the question of having a "Left" ski and a "Right" ski.

Are there positives and negatives to doing this? If so, what are they. I have in the past marked hire skis, as I have found that one ski sometimes prefers to be on one side, which I always put down to the edges on them not being perfect. But as I am about to take my virgin skis to the snow for the first time, is it something I should consider doing [I already have names for each ski  ], or should I just use them as they go on and allow natural rotation to occur?

Thanks.
Dream Chalet

I agree with snowb4ndit, if I won the lottery big time, why restrict myself to having a dream Chalet in a resort and finding yourself stuck in the same place.

I would simply go wherever I fancied and wherever had the best conditions at the time. Get to see all round the world. Japan, Korea, Tibet, Russia, Scandinavia, Canada, USA, South America, Australia, NZ etc. All done in fine style according to the area.
La Thuile

Hi Jeandurie, I would not worry too much.

Differences in snow reports are quite common, it all depends on where the person doing the report sticks his stick into the snow  Plus older sticks tend to have the ends snapped off, so report more snow than there actually is. Some resorts even leave the sticks in specially dug holes, so they always start off with an extra 40 cm or so.

The J2SKI report uses a big old stick and they have updated today with the following La Thuile Report

Trust me on this, but you will be fine with the snow in La Thuile. The reports on not much snow in Italy are almost certainly from a bit further over, and from earlier in the season. La Thuile is linked to La Rosiere, which is in France. You cannot tell me that the snow in La Thuile will be non existent because it is in Italy, but if you cross the border up the hill and get to France, then it is all OK because that is in France :!:

Just start packing, and look forward to a great holiday. Enjoy and report back after please, with pics if possible. Thanks.

PS Only kidding about the sticks and holes.... Err I think!
Is it wrong?

Word of warning. If the jacket has any white in it, do NOT, I repeat NOT, ever spill any ketchup or bolognese sauce on it!

My friend has a red/white/blue Spyder jacket, and the first time he wore it, he managed to squirt ketchup on it from a hot dog, and before the end of the week he added the bolognese sauce. No matter how hard they tried, the stains never came out. We constantly remind him every year of what he ate on that trip

 And just like magic, I see a sponsored advert pop up at the side of your thread!

Never used them, but is this the sort of thing you are looking for?
