And all the potentially broken/lost mobile phones is going to be greener than a potentially reusable plastic lift pass?

Typical knee jerk reaction to "trying to be green" in my opinion. Just do like many European resorts do, have a deposit on the pass, collect them back in and then reuse. Passes in sleeve pockets makes far more sense. What happens when it gets really cold and the phone goes flat after a couple of runs?

A no from me to :(
Munich Transit into Austria

Hi MikeyLeeds, currently there are no restrictions on travel, I have linked a couple of sites for you to check. However, be aware that things can change if there is another large outbreak. TBH, my personal opinion is that they will be unlikely to stop travel from Germany.

Good to hear you got it sorted, probably too late now, but for future reference and anyone else looking, I have just read elsewhere that the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) do specialised winter sports cover, including season cover.
DougR, just a thought, but surely seasonaires get insurance for the entire season, perhaps that might be a route you can look at.
Early December Madonna di Campligio

Hi Bronwyn, like DaveD says, I also like MDC. Also like he says it really is a bit of wait and see given the current climate changes and the heat Europe is suffering this summer.

Historically, MDC usually has snow throughout December, check the last three years on the page on this site https://uk.j2ski.com/snow_forecast/Italy/Madonna_di_Campiglio_snow_history.html

However, last year was an awful season, while the year before they had loads.

Best bet may be to wait and see what happens. The snow will usually start sometime in November, if not earlier.

Good luck.

Edit, may be easier to link straight to the image.
Visiting Austria early 2022

Well, I am due out there in three weeks.

Originally planned to drive, but because I need to stop overnight on this journey because of a physical condition, we have decided that it was just going to be too silly and expensive getting PCR's that would still be valid when we got to Austria.

Cut the story short, but having found some pretty decent flights (as far as I am concerned) with Jet2 to Salzburg, we are now going to fly for the first time in almost 20 years. £170 return including hold and ski bags seems good to me. That's 44kg of luggage each :)

Who knows, all these silly rules may mean that we will fly more in future instead of using greener options like driving or trains.

Hi merry, we are supposed to be driving to Austria first week of Feb and I have to say I am getting a little nervous about it right now. If France stays the same, our only alternate would be the Harwich - Hook of Holland ferry, but that is only two departures a day and the times don't really work for a decent arrival in resort. Currently cannot stop overnight in Germany as we had planned, and I have read elsewhere that the Austrians are checking people on the borders, which will also make getting a valid 48 PCR awkward. Looks like we would have to pay top rates to get one just as we depart in order to still be valid on arrival.

I am seriously looking at the possibility of flying right now.

Would love to hear what you decide and if you go ahead how it works out please. Good luck.

Plus a negative PCR test less than 48 hours!

But you are correct, as long as they stick to this it is great news and will allow some people to get a ski holiday in.
