:) Good man! I was involved in the inaugural Budweiser League back in the 80's so I know exactly where you are coming from.

Hi Lb123, I really hope you decide to go, and more importantly I hope you enjoy it and get the bug.

I used to be 19 stone (now just under 15) and never had any issues anywhere as far as lifts were concerned. I see plenty of plus sized people skiing these days as well and like the others have said, people will adjust.

In truth, if you have never skied before, you are likely to be using the services of a ski school for the first week, and any decent instructor should assess your ability and only take you where he feels you are capable of going.

My only advice to you would be to try to always sit centrally in any chair lifts so they remain balanced, and to work on your leg strength before you go.

Hope you have a good trip, please report back and let us know how you get on.

Anyone recognize which village it is?

I think it starts in Val Claret (pretty sure it is the Tichot lift on the left, with Cahrdonnes in the distance, then ends up in La Lac. You can see the Hotel L'Arbina, which is just beside Toviere.

That happened years ago Wanderer :)

Anyway, they are the Ski2J group ;)
I just checked, and I'm still allowed to cram as many bags as I can get into the boot of my car when I go in a couple of weeks

All reported safe and well but I imagine that was an "interesting" afternoon.

Guess it makes you appreciate the dirndl better when you get down though
Hi Oreldrive, might be a longshot, but you can also try contacting some of the major TO's. I know that people like Crystals are prepared to sell a transfer only deal if they have space on their coaches. However, I suspect they will mainly use Innsbruck or Salzburg airports.

For what it's worth, I got a pair of Hestra "lobster" mittens last season, and they are the warmest things I can recall wearing. So much so, that as we had quite a warm week while in Austria, I only wore them for two days and reverted to my older gloves. Looking forward to using them in the Dolomites in a couple of weeks time :)
