Good news for skiers using BA...

A strike by British Airways cabin crew planned for Christmas has been declared illegal in a High Court ruling.
The court agreed with BA that the cabin crew's union, Unite, had not correctly balloted its members on the strike action.

Gooseh wrote:Hey,

So a week or two ago, my parents picked up some second hand skis for me, some Nordica Hot Rod Eliminators to be precise. What I want to know is what I need to do to them before I take them skiing!

Clearly I'll need to adjust the length of the bindings, and I'd guess I'll be able to find instructions for this on the web. If anyone's got any good links, they would be much appreciated.

I've think I've calculated what my DIN needs to be. Do these differ for the toe and heel? If so, then how?

According to the seller, they've recently been serviced (edges sharpened and bases waxed) by Ski Bartlett, so I'm guessing there's not a whole lot to do in that area.

Anything that I'm missing?

Thanks,
Gooseh

If they are the Marker bindings on the X-shaped rail they are really easy to do. I am looking at a pair right now!

Generally the din is made the same for the toe and heel...

Not missing anything I know of

Apparently snowing in Glasgow now too although not here. Might get some skis out and head up
How cold do you like it?

All depends what area you are in as well, stayed in a draughty cabin in -12 here last year and nearly died. -12 in the right location can be 'warm', especially with the sun hitting your back!
Skiing on twintips

I seem to recall them being Atomic Sweet Daddy's. I don't know, haven't seen them but I am guessing they will have a flat tail

But they aren't 'twin tips', the tail just has a little turn up. What are they? B78's? I'd suggest the turned up tail is just to help you slide backwards out of tricky situations. A completely flat ski makes this sorta situation difficult especially when the snow is cut up or a little deeper than usual. There is a reason 'Rossignol Bandit Twip Tip Skis' does not bring any relevant results from Google ;)

Edit: I wish I hadn't sold any skis and my new ones were here so I could do a 'flat tail', 'turned up tail', 'semi twin', 'full twin' picture post
