A strike by British Airways cabin crew planned for Christmas has been declared illegal in a High Court ruling.
The court agreed with BA that the cabin crew's union, Unite, had not correctly balloted its members on the strike action.

Dont count your chickens yet. I was talking to a senior cabin crew member today and she says they will manage to get this turned round in time for Xmas.

thank the lord, my sister's honeymoon is very unimportant
I heard that, even if it was overturned, they'd have to wait until next year to strike?

I guess this is exactly what Willie Walsh wants, for the lots of cabin crew to not turn up for work and he can then sack them, as the strike is illegal (for now).

He can then hire lots of lower cost (no pension) employees??

I think the CC union has handled this whole situation realy badly and it will end in tears, either the destruction of BA or the crushing of the union, not sure which one!
We'll be fine!

Industrial relations on a 1970's scale.

So, what would you do, if the company you were running lost £375m, and this year was going to be worse?

I may be mis-informed but I was under the impression that the cabin crew are on a good salary compared to other airlines and that they are due for a payrise. The strike is/was about changing terms and conditions so to call a strike over the christmas period imo makes the cabin crew ars**les. :|
