Ski specific question?

Where are you and what are the conditions? What's the ski?

84 underfoot isn't too wide. They will respond better in powder and should be ok on piste. They sound like an all-mountain ski. It depends what you want to ski and what you style is. Maybe you should opt for a package that allows you try different styles during the week (slalom, GS, all-mountain) and see what you get out of them.

I ski the Salomon Enduro XT850 with 127-84-111 profile. It allows me to cruise the pistes. The wider tip and the rocker allow it to ride powder better. I don' therefore need to worry about changing skis mid session.
Milan Milpensa, where to go?

It's a long trek to Sauze, unless you can tie in with the Eurostar to Oulx http://www.fsitaliane.it/homepage_en.html
Probably better to head North.
Easter short break

As it's an early easter, it's still low season so good on prices and the French won't be on holiday until later.

March 2012 there was (freak) a heatwave which didn't do much for the snow anywhere.

We had a tour of the place (Chalet des Dollines) in the spring. NICE - pricey by nice.
Prices on the slope

Next time order an espresso. In Italy it will rarely cost you more than an euro wherever you are (as long as you order at the bar).

Cokes and mars bars are the most expensive things in mountain restaurants, even in Claviere where you can have a decent lunch for a tenner

Lots of factors going on there. France will have one of its half-term weeks the same time as the Brits. Try Italy or Austria maybe for quieter slopes? If you're used to LDA, the charms of Austria may be a good alternative, just pick a decent sized ski area... so go for the more famous resorts, and book early for cheep flights.

easier with a pistol grip version like the Sanyo. But helmet cams are good, especially on the tougher slopes.

Thats my whole point don't make it easy, even a pistol grip is a no no for me, VC's are small enough to fit nicley in your hand.

They are, but the arm position is all wrong. With a pistol grip you know that holding your arm out straight will be aiming in the right direction. This allows you to look where you are going. A traditional VC doesn't give you the same option. It's not about skills, so much as safety. If I'm moving with a skier at 40mph, it's important that look where I'm going.
