There's a lot to chose from with a wide range of prices. From the cheap and small Muvi Veho to the GoPro. Having worked with the Muvi Veho for 2 years I upgraded to the Contour HD. Mainly because I didn't want to look like a TellyTubby.
The choice is all about quality vs. budget, and what you want to do with it. I doubt very much you would be able to rent one. You will also need video editing software to make the most of the footage you've taken. |

I visited their nearest competition yesterday (Chalet des Dolines) and they have a 17.00 check-in policy as well. They offer a left-luggage area; changing facilities should you want to go skiing and use of the pool - BUT check-in is still 17.00 - oh... and Saturday to Saturday only.
In the old village, rooms would certainly be ready for a Sunday arrival...whatever the time - but again, these are only available in quieter periods, otherwise it's all Saturday to Saturday form 16.00. |

My advice would be take it easy. It's frustrating, but 6 weeks restriction is better than a lifetime of pain if you overdo it early. I only tore mine, and didn't have an op. but it was definitely 6 weeks before I could walk properly and I didn't ski the next season.

Crystal Transfer day is on a Sunday - French change-over day is on a Saturday. I would be very surprised if the apartments weren't ready by 5pm the evening before your arrival.
Dealing with the agencies in France is not always as we would want. Outside of the main holidays they all have lunch for 2-3 hours, even on change-over days. It is sometimes a rush to get an apartment ready in time for our guest's arrival time, but you are right, if Crystal had a good relationship with the team at the Hameaux, they would easily get around the problem. The charge PV are making sounds cynical at best. Either the room is ready or it isn't. |

The ski school is down by the nursery slopes. Probably best to book a 2 hour private lesson. There should be some fresh snow at the weekend and lower temperatures for your arrival. The best thing about Claviere are the mountain restaurants. I highly recommend the Baita Gimont, La Coche is an old favourite, and the restaurant between the tennis court and football pitch at the west end of the village near the golf course (sorry can't remember its name). |

They had 40cm of snow in the last few days, things can change quickly.

Dongle from country of origin, or the local bar with free wi-fi. Might cost more in beer in the long run, but that's not wasted money!
