i also live in the SW, so travelling can be a nightmare.
The Austrian Rail website is great, also in english upto the point of buying tickets.
www.oebb.at they will give you the various options from waterloo.

We're organsing 2 trips to Austria.
Already have a number of friends, but dates split between last week of January and Mid-March. Looking to boost numbers.

We ski at the Dachstein West, 140km of intermediate piste + the Krippenstein Off-piste arena :-), had a great time last year, enough snow for a good range of skiing.

Everything in Austria organised, accommodation, transfers, lift-pass and welcome meal, all done really well.

Not a big apre ski village, but good fun with a group.
Price is £425, if anybody is interested give me a shout.

we had superb conditions few years. Good snow laid down during Jan & Feb, fresh snow almost daily.
This was in Dachstein, have a group going 10th March £385, B&B accommodation, 6 days lift pass, transfers and 2 evening meals.
140kms of intermediate piste or off-piste on the Krippenstein.

this is the view in Bad Ischl, 20 minutes away from Postalm, afraid it doesn't look good.

At the foot of the Krippenstein, you are right not open until 16th, but a top freeride area.

Maybe give it a go later in the season.
