I would have to say my Spyder pants. They are just so comfortable and light.

I've always been pleased with my StreetRacer 10's. First pair of skis I bought and kept just for snow. I couldn't bring myself to try them out on the dryslope.

It's a bit sad but I'm also quite keen on my Swix Voyager poles at the moment. Really like the grip and the decals.

We're actually planning on a bit of a sweepstake. Although she claims to be 100% committed to learning to snowboard with her Fiancee she is also bringing her ski boots - Perhaps she just likes lots of luggage?

I reckon day 3 she'll be back on the twin planks.

In January I'm on holiday as part of a group of 11 - three of us will be skiing the rest will be boarding.

One of them will be boarding for the first time although in the past she has worked as a ski rep and can ski quite well.

I'll see how she get's on with the lessons before I tell her of a man I know called Jan who tought himself to board in just one day ). I could see that one going either way!
Ski in Mayrhofen via Salzburg - Doable?
Started by User in Austria, 5 Replies
I don't know too much about the trains from Salzburg to Mayrhofen but I know that it's a good couple of hours by car between the two so if you were planning to commute daily then you'll be missing out on a lot of time on the slopes. There are a lot of resorts a lot closed to Salzburg than Mayrhofen. Have a look on the 'Airports' tab towards the top of this page to see some of the estimated transfer times between the various airports and resorts.

Good Luck!

I think there is also a concern that the amounts of fresh water currently locked in the ice caps could have a large effect on the salinty of the oceans should they melt. The 'ligher' fresh water pouring in from the melting ice caps is less likely to sink as fast as the cold salt water causing a slowing effect of the ocean currents.

Edited: Just re-read Jans thread - I think he was refering to this.

There was a thing on TV about this last night. It has happened before where the oceans currents stopped. Unfortunately the oceans became stagnent though lack of oxygen and all the see creatures died. Toxic gas coming from the oceans then killed 90% of all land animals.

They didn't mention the skiing conditions at the time though )

When you think about it, skipping with a short rope so you have to keep your knees bent and with ski boots on - that would be evil
