Damn, two things to search for - ski feel and the meaning of life :lol: I have a great ski feel for the back of my skis, it's the fronts that I've yet to discover! |

Thankyou all for you info on this. At the moment I feel like a sponge trying to absorb anything and everything. Unfortunately I'm one of those thinker types rather than a 'watch and do' type. The original question was more to settle a pub debate rather than improve my skiing but all information is valuable. Thanks again. |

At what edge angle though? On a hard surface if the ski was edged at an angle of 20 degress you would get a larger radius than if it was at 45 degrees. Imagine the radius at 90! The tips would touch the tails! Mind you, you would probably end up with two pairs of very short skis. :cry: |

How do I know if the bindings are adjustable (god I hate now knowing enough about something!)?
Would there be any downsides to moving the binding forward? I don't want to mess up the rest of my poor skill set too much. |

Trencher, I think I see what you mean.
To clarify then, at the start of the turn you 'fall' as our Austrian instructor put it on the last Holiday and rather than maintain that low forward position, gradually become taller and forward throughout the turn. Sounds like it would make sense. I have noticed that skiers who look like they are carving really well are not in a static position throughout the turn. They look more like they are, ummm, can't think of the right word, but they certainly aren't sitting and waiting for the turn to finish. Sorry CTskigrrl, I seem to be hijacking your thread :wink: |

I've got some Salomon Streetracer 10's which have a 12.2m radius? How is this radius measured? What I mean is, is it just a case that at a given edge angle and a given pressure the turning radius is measured? Also, would you need to be tanking it to bend them enough to produce the stated turning radius or should it be fairly easy?
I'm sure the answers to these questions will have no effect on my skill level but it will help when next bragging about each others skis down the pub :? |

Hello, I'm new to this forum and fairly new to skiing having just got back from my 5th skiing holiday.
I'm a keen carver, infact my carve turns aren't too bad, it's my skid turns that are terrible! pavelski, I was interested in a comment you made above;
I hadn't really heard (or it hadn't sunk in) about this, especially the fore pressure to make the ski turn tighter. Could you possibly expand on this a little? Thanks |
