I personally put my helmet in my main suitcase, however on my recent trip to Japan I saw plenty of people with helmets attached on the outside of their carry on bags, so it shouldn't be a problem to do that.

Ally, am going to Japan because from Australia, it is much closer than America or Europe. Am going to a resort called Rusutsu on the northern island of Hokkaido hopefully to get some good deep powder. while much of Europe is missing out on decent snowfalls, Japan has had a pretty good season of snow so far, after a fairly late start to the season.

I am going to Rusutsu mid February 2001. Anyone else going to be there Any hints/tips about restaurants etc near the resort?

There should be excellent spring skiing that time of year in the North Island at least,that time this year there were even good snowfalls

Do you think that it is possible that the pistes are getting trashed more due to the increased numbers of snow users in recent years?
