Been to both Saalbach and Zell and prefer Saalbach, went before xmas last year and the snow was good all way to bottom, but later in the season it wasnt so good from what I heard on the lower slopes, Hinterglemm is nice along with Leogang as all 3 are connected.

I went December and glacier was cold minus 15 but is snowsure so good as backstop, the local village ski area is ok and your lift pass gives you a free bus ride and pass to zell em see 10 mins away, the skiing there is good and varied but very busy. I wouldnt reccomend Zell personally for your hol seemed busy and the main road splits the town in two. hope this helps:-)
New skier, hope to go this winter!

France would be great for a first holiday, it doesnt have the charm of other parts of the alps but if your going just for the skiing then you cant go far wrong, take a look a Les Arc's area which is great for first timers and lots of availablity,Welcome to a life of paying for ski holidays you will love it

Saalbach, hinterglemn or as above schladming
I have a pair of jawbones which I use for mtb and skiing,
I have persimmon lense for flat light and vr 28 polarised for sun, also have a hi-yellow for really low light which mainly use for mtb when in woods, I would think u should find a lense that would work plenty to choose from
