Sorry to be a gearpig but though I'm covered for all-round goggles, I'm looking for that magic lens in sunglasses I can pull out when I hit cloud/fog or very low light and all contrast disappears. My general purpose (Julbo photochromic) goggles aren't so good in flat light. I think something by Oakley would do the job but the lens tints in their goggles are more general purpose and they don't suggest any lens in particular for low to flat light, though several are suggested for high contrast. In the Oakley shop the hi-intensity persimmon lens looked to be very high contrast but I think it's discontinued. Unfortunately the advice you get in the shop is pretty poor. I'm hoping I'll find an Oakley fan who might be able to advise.

OK they're pricey sunglasses but there are a couple of styles that come with either 2 or 3 changeable lenses so you'd have some versatile sunglasses including a lens set for that flat light skiers often experience.

I have a pair of jawbones which I use for mtb and skiing,
I have persimmon lense for flat light and vr 28 polarised for sun, also have a hi-yellow for really low light which mainly use for mtb when in woods, I would think u should find a lense that would work plenty to choose from

I like the persimmon lens (I think you can still get that for their sunglasses) and looking on ebay there seem to be a lot of reputable vendors selling ski goggles with these lenses.

The persimmon lens is good but I tried it vs. the hi-intensity persimmon lens in the shop and the hi-intensity version really picks out contrast, which is what I'm after. I was told the Jawbone is a favourite of cyclists which suits me too.

The Oakley shop told me I can't get the hi-intensity persimmon for Jawbones frame but perhaps I can get a hi-intensity yellow instead.

This reminds me of my friend, Ellistine, and his good lady who decided to change goggle lenses at the top of Piz Nair in St Moritz just before heading down from the sun into the shady valley below, after the rest of us had skied off......we got to the mid point and stopped without realising where they were, and 5 minutes later they turned up to inform us of said goggle lens change........the outside temp at the time?

Minus 23.

I stick to the lenses I have got in my Adidas Yodai's, they seem to work fine in all light. And keep me warm )

And one more thing - is polarizing really necessary? I've never seen it on goggles.
thanks
