First Time Skiing

Personally i would recommend Austria,
Fly into Salzburg & lots of great ski resorts within a hour transfer plus if you don't go with a tour operator there are plenty of budget flights from the south of the u.k.
I would also book a good hotel with as least breakfast as chalets tend to be expensive for groups of less than 6 unless you can bunk up with strangers..

Oh and start saving!
you will get hooked & have to find the the cash to feed your new addiction every year :-)

Christmas Week in Kaprun - Whats it like?
Started by User in Austria, 9 Replies
Hi,
Been for new year 2010 & stayed in Kaprun.

nice small town with some good little bars
skiing good on the glacier but cold at that time of year also worth getting up early for the glacier as the ski bus & gondola gets very busy.
the local town runs are quite low at the bottom so you don't always get snow but are good higher up but the area is not huge.
Worth a trip to zell-em-see as well only 15 mins on the ski bus & a nice ski area.
also worth a trip to sallbach & go over to Leogang if you have time

It will be fun :-)

Thanks for that AllyG

Thats really helpful thank you :-)

The only thing that concerns me about the Innsbruck flight is the airport has a habbit of closing quite alot in winter due to its location etc.. so will have a look at Bergamo or one of the others.

Best rental shop in Arc 2000?

Used the Skiset shop at Aguille Rouge, & probably wouldn't use this shop again as the kit was a little tried and the staff just wanted you out of the shop.
Have a look at the shops at 1950 as its 2 mins down in the cable car and if I remember the shops were not as busy and the kit looked ok when I was browsing
Recomendations Ski Hire Bad Gastien please, not having much fun with the on-line shops as they just seem to want to rent me all moutain skis
Thank you -)
