I'm not sure if this is relevant to your exact question but it's a drill we did to increase separation
As wih all drills-easier to start on a fairly mellow blue, place your poles together on your shoulders like the way people used to carry water back in the day. Idea is to keep the poles as parallel to the slope as possible. We were told it keeps you in the fall line for as long as possible and it stops you rotating into the hill and gets better separation between upper and lower body. Was done as part of slalom training but I'm sure it translates to carving too? |

Apart from the statements already made-which I agree with btw, you are still running the risk of breaking bones whether you have a bag or not so still very serious and certainly should not be taken as a "risk is high today, so I'll just stick my airbag on"
There is a rather feisty debate ATM on Scottish forums because Nevis range want to change the grading of the back Corries to orange marked off piste trials instead of red/black runs. For example last weekend there were over 30people in the Corries, with less than a third carrying a rucksack-ie no shovel or probe and most likely no transceiver I'm all for it-keep it safe, use it only if you know the risks, can assess it and have he equipment |

I truly am a pleaser of all hats-I own a helmet (which m lookin to replace with a nice poc one soon), a nice soft grey and white bobble hat and I have a colmar beanie-it is not baggy though and is super snug and warm! Don't like to offend! |

You lot are disgusting, I respect her purely for her skiing ability, the fact that she skis on guys skis and dominates almost across the speed disciplines.
I have never, ever even considered she is attractive........ |

I've said this before but I'll briefly repeat, If I'm going to be skiing off piste or somewhere particularly dangerous, I wear a back protector now after a pretty bad crash into some trees where I was lucky not to be in hospital-I wasnt aiming for them btw.........
I also wear a helmet because IMO it makes sense but if I'm teaching or just taking it easy I would have m hat on-now to add EVEN MORE controversy, a few of my hats dont have a bobble, does that make me a new enemy?! ;-) |
