OK Cachal, by now, you might have guessed that we have all been biding our time, waiting for the big snow dump, then we would have given heaps of smarty pant replies. While the snow has started to arrive in the lower alps, it is unlikely to arrive big style, in time to meet your arrival date. Snow cannons will be switched on, but noone can predict where/when.
Using the snow report that you have lifted, also consult https://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Airports/Salzburg.htmlseveral others Use this process: Start at the top, select Fresh/perfect/powder. Check the milage from Salzburg. A couple these areas are not well known so there may be limited J2 knowledge. Stubai is not to far, and you would stay in Neustift. Kaprun is also not too far from Salzburg. I have skied both of these areas, along with several others, all good open area glacier skiing. So, in your timescale, one of the main joys of Austria, skiing at tree level, may not be available. It depends how long you are staying. |

Well we arrived in Sydney on a Sunday, slept Monday, bought a car and phoned job agents Tuesday, Job interview Wednesday, started work and moved into a flat on Thursday, went skiing on the Saturday..... Very little time to choose a preferred resort! |

I've been found out! |

Not possible, the forecasters cover a huge number of resorts. This year is a bit more odd than some, (but not all), previous years, the weather pattern has lingered. Quite frustrating for us, when we are looking at the forecast for a particular resort, and the forecast keeps time shifting The alps are definitely cooling, the mountain ground temperatures are falling, so conditions are coming good for switching on machines. However, as you know Brucie, for snow, we also need the right precipitation conditions. The forecast seems to look good for pre-Christmas cover. Meanwhile, my friends in Austria are enjoying their hill walking.... |

When I skied Perisher, it was pretty deep snow. There as a guest of the Warragang ski club.

Snow due tomorrow, and for much of the week. Temps in the lower alps have fallen, and should remain sub-zero for a while.
If I were a gambling man, I would put money on the machines being switched on by Monday. |
