Niederau can be done for under Euros 40 per night b@b, eat out for about Euros 15 per night.

I'll be there for most of January, and a week in February. Maybe also end of season. Plus one other location in March. Have already bought my season pass.

You need to be able to fly to Munich, (my airport), Innsbruck, or Salzburg.
Helen is an amazing lady. We are all skiers, some more skilled and qualified. I have certainly skied on Cairngorm, (and Austria), in limited conditions like this. I refuse to show the photos....
In the early days, when I ran Trans Pennine Ski Club, there seemed to be a lot of low snow hits.

Contrasting this, I have a photo, (can't get it to print), of No 2 son and I, at Glenshee Tiger, where the snow is over 5ft higher than me.

Thats skiing....

I travel every January Edinburgh to Munich. Then catch the train from Munich airport to Worgl, €35. Taxi up to Niederau €22. B&B under €40.
From Worgl, you can also access Kitzbuhel, and the Skiwelt.
For local prices, check with the area tourist boards.

Help how to stay forward during skiing

Two tips.
Position your arms forward, in a semi-circular way. Keep them forwards. Arms can weigh around 6/8% of bodyweight, but because they are forwards, they operate a disproportionate forward momentum.

Also, do some drills. Find a not so steep slope, preferably with few people. Aim across the hill, arms and body forward. Slightly unweight, then move the uphill knees and hips forward, carving to a stop. because this is a relatively short period, you remain concentrated. Repeat this about 10 times in each direction. Do this just twice a day. You are likely to find this will carry forward into your run technique.

After 50+ years of skiing, I still do a drill session every day, changing the focus of each drill. Toe pressure, calf pressure, angulation, smoothness of change, etc.
Anyone been to Borovets?

Agree with Daved, and add that the ski school is very good.
I did a quick look at Tennladen apartments, Niederau, no early Jan, but offering 9 nights from 17th Jan, asked for 3 room apartment, it offered 9 nights for £1350, (£25 pppn). there would be the usual €2.5 pppn local tax. There are several choices of places to eat, including the Harfenwirt just 50m away.

My search was through Booking.com, but Jakob at the Tennladen will always beat Booking.com

I will be there already, and skiing in my kilt on Friday 18th....

I presume you have knowledge of train/taxi etc from Munich. A better plan is a minibus, then you can drive to Kitzbuhel, Skiwelt, plus several other valleys, all on the Salzburg Superski pass.

I will also be back in late Feb, but not in March, since I will be in Avoriaz......
This is what I have put on their FB webpage: https://www.facebook.com/VailResorts/?ref=br_rs

"I take family and friends to Vail.

Never again. This cancer story is going round Europe at speed. It will soon be all around the world.

Vail Resorts are sure to lose millions of $s with this vicious action."
