I never want to stay in an hotel or apartment that has had previous smokers, and so look for non-smoking places. The sooner Europe follows Scotland and latterly England in introducing non-smoking in public places, the better.
Wunderbar! Yes it would be good to go no-smoking, but also. make sure that you tell people. Good luck. |

Sorry to be a pain, but can anyone help with the on-line lift pass issues?

Will be there a couple of days before you. It's going to be another great season. Don't worry about carving, there are still plenty of heel pushers around. Re the boss's confidence, is she on longish skis? If so go a couple of sizes shorter. If you are taking own skis, it may be worth hiring a short pair for a day. We met a woman last year on 205s, and quickly nicknamed her Lady Longskis!
A private lesson might be about £30 an hour, and is worth while, suggest try this on day 2, so you know which runs you feel confident on. There are two schools, red & blue. Respectfully suggest the red, not that I am biased of course! Re the Hahnenkamm, you can get the post bus to Worgl, then the train to Kitts. Or you can take a taxi to Kirchberg, buy a day pass and ski over to Kitts. Finally, indie music came after my time. If you want drink'n'dance music there is the Cave Bar ~ it has a DJ. In the village square there O'Malleys, Irish music. At the top end of the village, handy if you are guests at the Harfenwirt, is my local, the Bichlwirt. This is a 500 year old stuble, full of character. Herbert plays Harp most nights, but not as you imagine harps ~ Tyrolean, Beatles, Manchester folk tunes, Greek, more Beatles....... Good luck, maybe see you in the Bichl..... |

Season pass for Niederau (and Wildschoenau)

Switzerland has become relatively lower cost, suspect it has to do with Sw.Fr./Euro exchange. Pluses for Zermatt ~ good open skiing, good lift system, easy access to Italian side, very pleasant, good retention of Old Zermatt buildings, loads of shops, no cars. Minus points morning lift queues getting up the mountain, crazy electric taxi drivers.
Make sure you get a room view of the Matterhorn, it will live with you for a long time. |

Welcome to the site KT. Hope you have a good one in Mayrhofen, and that you quickly overcome the snowboard bit and convert to skiing! You will love the holiday.
Not being a boarder, I can only say that Mayrhofen has all the best things that boarders need. My own resort is Niederau, would not recommend for boarders, the link ups at the top are flat, and so involve a lot of effort. However, if/when you convert to skiing, now that's a different story.... |

Hi Jan,
You still online? If so how is the snow holding up in Niederau? No bare patches? I am out for two and half weeks in January, and 2 weeks at end of season. Always stay at the Grafenweg end, just up the road from the Bichlwirt. |

Several lift pass issues to cover. Brochure lift pass looks a bit pricy when compared with on-line booking. So ~ has anyone had good/bad experiences with lift pass booking sites? Then sites offer different ages for Seniors pass. Is there a standard age rule for the Three Valleys? Also, one site warned that you may buy a three Valley lift pass, but have to pay a supplement to cover the Gondola up to Meribel.
