Thanks Guys for the comments and I will definitely be pestering you both for advice closer to the time!
Andy-by all accounts the chalet had an overhaul last year, the bedrooms were all made much bigger and refurbished. One of the lads on the trip is going and he says the same, so I guess we will only know when we get there (can't wait......only 284 days to go)

Thanks Tony, I might come back to you for a bit of ADH advice if that's ok? This is our 9th 'gents trip, and we've never been over the £900 mark for everything included.

Thanks also for the info about Club Med, that's definitely worth a look.

Cheers

Hi all.

We have half booked a ski chalet in Alpe D'Huez for 21 January next year, it's called Les Eterlous and works out at £880 with ski carriage and £840 without (fully catered, and that price includes all area ski passes). Please let me know if you have any interest and I will give more details.

Thanks

Planning for 2016/17 already

Some excellent areas to choose from there, Tony. We are just looking at returning to Les Arcs, it's a brilliant ski area for so many reasons. Just regarding Italy, I see that Skiworld have pulled the entire range for 2017, due to such poor snow conditions over the last 2 years (their words). Good luck in your choosing, it's one of those nice dilemmas!

Ps.....Barney, I've done lech twice. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Cheers

Any Morzine tips?

Hello Doug. I've just come back and hope these hints help. Only my opinion of course but they worked for me!

1. The main Pleney cable car which takes you up to the Viking hotel is always really busy in the morning. Take the small chair to the right of it instead, it's usually empty and goes about 1km past so you can ski back to where you would normally get out. It's a lot quicker.

2. Super Morzine lift..........get there very early if heading to Avoriaz and Switzerland, or leave it until after 11am is around rush hour it is murder.

3. The tourist info centre people are excellent, if there is anything you need they are very knowledgeable. It it's the main square, you can't miss it.

4. Take a loo roll out with you, the wife wondered why I always did and now does the same! Lots of loos with no roll, a strange one but true!

5. If the red Stade run is low on snow then avoid at all costs, it's not fun in the slightest and quite frankly dangerous.

6. Different runs...Mur Suisse is a good challenge for anyone but Yeti is a great black if you're not wanting to travel that far. The reds are pretty similar and enjoyable, my 8 year old flew down La Chavelles and loved it. Lots of blue cruisers to enjoy, just be careful of rush hour when they get very busy.

7. Le Tremplin is good for a beer in the evening, and Bec Juane (on the main road) has it's own brewery so lots to sample in there!

We really enjoyed it, and found snow conditions better if you ski away from the town centre, dropping over the back down granges etc. Have a great time!

I did it 10 days ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Saying that, the conditions were perfect and the run itself wasn't busy so there was little fear of human snowballs hitting me. The run is very steep as expected but pick your turns and keep an eye on those around you and fingers crossed you'll be on the run off at the base pretty soon.

I even purchased a 'Mur Suisse' fake marker in a souvenir shop for the downstairs loo as I was very pleased. Doesn't skiing bring out the child in us all.

Good luck if you do it.
