Hoops, you are out of touch with the way that some educational authorities behave.
What you do in 6th form matters less, it is your final year. It is even worse for the teachers here, who are forced to pay triple prices at New Year. And of course, for their friends that go with them. |

Jan I Stenmark
I am pleased if that turns out to be the case. Geog is such a nice guy.
I think if you delve not too deeply, there may be several hundred "enamourings" with George, including I recall a New Zealand lady that seasoned in Niederau. What talent! And he could ski. 8) |

One thing that strkes me is that the slope angleodes not look that steep, ~ but this is a point that Ise has made before.
It's a good outcome, and surprising. |

American lift queues are a model for everywhere in the world. You may arrive at the bottom and be face with four or eight lines. You obviously choose the shortest.
So eight lines merge to four and four merge to two, and so on. At each merge, it is one from the left, and one from the right, and so on. You very quickly loose contact with the love of your life, but meet up with some interesting compensation! It is awfully civilised. And as Trencher says, the kleenex are available in dispensers at the start of the queues, with deposit bins a few yards later. In Europe, I have a queuing theory, related to the direction of lift, and dominant nationalities of those in the queue. Unless I am up against people like me, I will be at the head of the queue quicker than I deserve. Without standing on peoples ski gear. I just assume that I am more keen to ski than the others. |

The PC brigade grow ever stronger in this country. We long ago seemed to lose sight of common sense.
Scotland is a skiing nation. There are no school hoiday breaks between New Year and Easter. We just used to take the lads out of school, at least until their exam years. In addition to the ski skills learned, (perhaps too many, they both fondly imagine they are quicker than the old man), they did practice German and French, and in La Thuille, the wonderful lady in the bakers shop, would not serve them, unless they asked in Italian. If I did this now, I would probably have gained a criminal record. |

karen72, yes that is the correct skischool. the head instructore is Sepp schellhorn. The school is very highly rated in Tirol. The other school wears blue anoraks, and I do not wish to pass any comment.
Cornishmaid. We were in Niederau in July and Herbert was cracking the whip with the builders. The new hotel extension was almost complete then. I cannot comment about the completion date of the pool, but knowing Herbert, it is unimaginable for it not to be finished. However, it is a proper pool. There is a larger dining area, and a bigger kitchen. The hotel is called the Harfenwirt, harf being the deutsch for harp, an instrument that Herbert plays, errm, quite well. That is an old picture of the ski school. We had a summer night this year with Tony, Sepp, George, & Konrad. Tony retired from instructing three years ago. George retired at the end of last season. The passing of an era. Tony is to be found skiing the mountain on the first gondola every day. His is the style I have tried most of my skiing life to emulate. My ski buddy, Mel & I were having a drink, and watching George work on his last working day, and he was still roaring at his class! |
