From mialn you get the train (2 and a half hours) to tirano and then a bus to Bormiowhich is easy enough but maybe not ideal for just one day-Aprica is closer and so is Santa Caterina which is a nice resort as far as Im aware
Thought Torino is close no? |

I have just completed the best week of the season here! All the manufacturers and shops were here for a test week with all the new gear for the next season!! best fun ever!
Got a shot on the new Rossignol FIS slalom ski which was a treat and the biggest, fattest stupidest rocker skis there are! Nicest ski on piste = Atomic double deck GS Nicest off piste = Armada Arv Nicest in trees and deep = Rossignol S7 Nicest all round = Armada El Ray Most fun-park etc = Salomon 2012 - a rockered park ski so you are only actually touching the snow with about 140cm of ski-easiest thing to spin ever! Disappointments Salomon Shogun - have wanted to try it for ages but hated it Scott Neo - had heard so much about it on here and didnt like it for anything but long, slow turns Head GS - horribly soft and not grip at all cant wait to hit the shops next year..... in a real pickle about what to buy! Shed loads of nice jackets etc to choose from next year too! I always try and attend the tests days at indoor slopes but if you ever get the chance to do one on a mountain for a week jump at it!! |

i just demoed them at the test week here-really comfy boot but very soft-only come in a 120, the guy said they are changing the plastic for next year to make it stiffer and bringing out a 130 boot.
Atomic are also doing one very similar apparently but i couldnt try it due to my giant clown feet! not sure if it is because i am quite tall or the design but they didnt have a high back to them so i found them hard to ski in the trees with little support-lightest boots i have ever had on mind you! mind you the matching ski that salomon are bringing out is a belter-really like that, cant rememebr its name though, sorry! |

i was in mickeys on sunday night actually-we went for some apres and ended up crashing ina hotel for the night-beers were only 4euros a pint and vodkas etc were 6 which is cheaper than bormio
went onto marcos which i think was a gay night which was amusing if a little uncomfortable! the point of the journey was to get me some new ski boots which i am going back tomorrow to collect from zinnerman!!! very excited but a pricey weekend.... |

to be totally honest I wasnt impressed-the ski racing was average at best-courses were too flat and the weather was horrific-why choose a resort to host the olympics that is known for having lots of wet, soft snow?!!
doesnt help that here in italy all i bloody saw was the biathalon events-missed the skier cross, aerials and ice hockey :-( |
