Hello StressyMum! Have you thought about second hand or even freecycle/cheapcycle? I used to live in South Bucks and there are a lot of schools in your area who go on ski trips. I got my son and daughter their first ski outfits this way (which had only been worn for one trip).

I think there used to be a 2nd hand 'designer' shop in Great Missenden High Street which had ski gear also.

Am I being slow here - how does Thompson's wording apply to the snowboard bags like my son has, which is for his snowboard, boots and all the rest of the packing, thus avoiding the need for a suitcase. As far as I know he has never had a problem.

My boots are now next to a log fire watching Countryfile - but they can't wait for X-Factor.......
