Fantastic! We have a few free ski passes every year (75+) and it warms the heart.

I always have a buff on hand just in case - to keep the neck warm and stop the wind getting down the collar.

Yes, and it works well. It's all about layers and wind-proofing.

My jacket has done 6 full seasons (16 weeks a season), new trousers only because I was told by H.I.D. that I had to be more visible. Have kept the old ones. Skis have done an estimated 5000-6000 km (Salomon Enduro XT850) – and this begs the question: How many miles are skis good for? They are pretty battered, but seem OK. I'm going to compare next week against some new Salomon X-Drives.

Yes but the French are getting the accommodation, the lift passes, the food AND the wages. The reason the English kids do it for slave wages is they know no better. The trouble is, pay peanuts...

No worries, great tree-lined runs down. Say Hi to the folks at the Peyra Juana mountain restaurant. Well worth a visit!!

Using an ESF instructor is hardly "getting around" the ruling, It's exactly what ESF want and is legal. It has always been illegal for an unlicensed paid employee to guide. Social skiing with volunteers is 'getting around" the ruling, but that's what many are doing to provide a much loved service.
