That's what I'm being cautious of Trencher. I've only ever hired boots so have taken what was thrown at me. As for my skiing ability, I'd describe myself as a strong intermediate. I'll ski any red comfortably and take easy blacks too. I'd like to say that I'm competent all over the park but that'd be a bare faced lie!
A mate has offered me his (Nordica Speedmachine 130) boots as he is upgrading. Same size feet as mine.

Is it a good idea to buy second hand boots and if so, should I take them to be fitted to my feet? If I work on the ski-hire shop principle, then there is nothing wrong as none of their hire boots are custom fit for the hirer.

I've also been researching this particular boot but can't tell if it's 'too good for me'. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this boot?

Cheers all
Just thought I'd bring this deal to J2skiers' attention. SportPursuit.co.uk are selling them for a shade over £300, which is still some way cheaper than the nearest.

I have been contemplating purchasing my own skis for quite some time now but haven't been able to make the decision or take the plunge. I'd almost bought some Scott Neos (after Tony H's rave reviews) but held back because I wanted to try some others.

Has anyone skied the Rictor or the Charger? I'm keen on getting an all mountain ski. Any reviews would help greatly but I appreciate that skiing them myself is the best way of making a decision!
Short break ski - who to book with?

Taken some good advice here and going independent.

Got a good deal on a chalet in Les Gets (£400 between 8 of us), flights to Geneva about £80 and then a couple of hundred for lift pass/ski hire.

Just need to speak with the bank manager in anticipation of the (supposedly) ridiculous French prices...

Tried those guys but the earliest they go is 15th Jan. Due to work constraints, we can only do the first week in Jan.

I have a couple of options now, one in Les Gets and another in ADH.

We're looking at a Thursday to Sunday trip but having googled for options, it appears that there aren't very many operators. Those that do only tend to go to a handful of French resorts (Morzine, Les Gets, Chamonix) and the Austrian options are just stupid expensive.

Can anyone point me in a direction please!

Checked with the airlines website and the said to speak to the Austrian Embassy to find out if I would be allowed....

Any ideas?

It will have to go in your suitcase, never get that through as hand luggage. Can't see why not, personal use etc[i] .

That's what my mate said when he was arrested for taking 3 kilos of coke out with him...they just don't buy the 'it's for personal use' line anymore...
You should be insured if you paid by credit card.
