Just got back from being fitted out by Colin at Solutions4Feet. Nice bloke, did a cracking job of checking my feet out and recommending a pair of boots. I was also very pleased that the pair he recommended weren't the most expensive in the shop, in fact he even gave me a decent price on a pair of last seasons boots instead of buying the current model. All in all, very pleased with the attention to detail and the service I got, now looking forward to trying them out properly.
Is there any shame in.....

Agreed. If you don't feel like skiing, then don't!

You are more likely to lose your technique and injure yourself when you are tired and your muscles ache. It's your body telling you that it needs the rest.

Me, personally, have never had that problem. I'm reasonably fit and have very strong legs which enables me to ski 7 hours a day, for the whole week.

For your next ski trip, you'll know to put the hours in getting your strength and fitness up.

Better over dressed than have a chivering child.

I always have my kids wear a fleece underneath and if they get too hot, they can unbutton their jackets. Last year, the temps were as low as -20 degrees and my daughter couldn't ski she was shivering that much. Didn't help we were stuck up the mountain.
Thanks Bandit. Just booked up an appointment with Solutions4Feet..
Getting everyone back to topic, I've decided to go for a new pair of boots instead. I've narrowed down the outlets that are near me to:

Ellis Brigham
SkiBartlett
47 Degrees (Fulham)
Profeet
Solutions For Feet

Does anyone have any experience of the above and can recommend them? I'd rather pay extra and be fitted by an experienced and knowledgeable fitter rather than a school leaver employed on the national minimum wage who will inevitably point me towards the best looking and most expensive boots.
Ranchero, I ski flat out (except for bathroom breaks and lunch) from the first lift up and the last lift up. Sitting around eating, drinking and chatting is for apres ski in my opinion..
Trencher - damn right, I'm a lean mean 11 stone.

Pavelski - I can understand what you are saying. And as I neither have the skill or the huge muscles, I'd probably do myself an injury.

I think I'll pay a visit to a specialist ski shop and see what offers they have on at the moment.
