If anyone is interested, the skiset website appears to be up and running now with bookings going live from September.

I had a look on the skiset website (as per link posted up by Admin) with a view to pre-booking my equipment for my Feb 10 ski hols. Either it's just me or the website doesn't seem to want to take any bookings.
Does anyone affliated with skiset know when this booking system will be up and running again? |

On another note, I've found out that we'll be using the Blues (ski school). I was rather hoping we'd be using the Reds after all the rave reviews I've read about them on here. The Blues get relatively few mentions.
Has anyone here experienced the Blues, or both, and is able to rate them? |

Cheer Ally....really looking forward to it and bl**dy months to go!
One downer about going via Nielsons is that they use the 'Blue' ski school as opposed to the 'Reds'. I say it's a downer because everyone on here raves about the Reds and not much is mentioned about the Blues. Am I better off hiring everything seperately just so that we get into the Reds or am I fussing about nothing? |

Finally made a decision and will be there w/c 6/2/2010.
Would be great to meet anyone else from here who will be there, especially if you too have a first timer wife and kids (aged 10 & 6).. |

Aye, Timeforabeer...it was driving me nuts, day after day of constantly researching ski resorts. The tour operator websites aren't overly helpful as they only want to point out the advantages. Sites like www.wtss.co.uk & wwww.welove2ski.com are great because you get an impartial review of the resort. Forums like this are great because people can recount their personal experiences. I'd agree that what's champagne for one might be lambrusco for another but that's the beauty about experience.
I was originally going to go for a Mark Warner holiday but they are just so ridiculously expensive and I'm lucky that none of my lot need 5* treatment. I've found that trying to achieve all factors don't half push the price up! I've just booked Niederau for 6th Feb 2010. My decision was greatly influenced by the reputation of the ski schools and that it is a family friendly village. We're staying at the Simmerwelt, which describes itself as being 150m away from the ski school meeting point. I'd not considered the childcare option to be honest and it's now given me something to think about. |

Some good info there basketcase. I think it's reinforced my decision.
I'm going to book one of those first time ski packages for the wife and kids. This includes ski school for 24 hours(not sure which school though), lift pass, slopeside ski storage and ski hire. All for £250 for adults & £200 for children. Maybe I'd get a better deal by booking individually at resort but I just can't be bothered with the hassle too be honest. I would like to insist on the Red Ski School but we'll see how it goes. The January prices are better than Feb prices but it's impossible for me to go then. |

I'm very certain about what I want from the resort. It's got to be children friendly, it's got to have excellent ski schools and the kids need to feel comfortable and not overwhelmed. A decent amount of non-ski activities would also be a bonus. The wife is also very keen on going to a Tyrolean village. At the end of the day, all resorts are a risk if never visited before. Who's to say that I would enjoy Flaine more than Nierderau unless I visit and experience both? Anyway...I'm really looking forward to it and the kids are very excited. The wife is non-plussed but she's hard to please *ahem-ahem* ) |
