OK - here goes!
Having spoken to my personal physician !! (sister) :D
Because she phoned me just after I read your question. ..
The correct medical answer is "it depends" - don't you just love them?
But it is pretty obviously the correct answer.

If they get their blood under control and their medicines stable they should be able to exercise "normally" - whatever normal means!

There is no reason why someone who has had a DVT in the past and is on blood thinners who is stable cannot ski.

Talk to the Doctors, ask their views, find out when they are well on the road to recovery and take it from there.
Ski deals - book now or wait....

I don't know why people are even thinking about/worrying about/ concerned about/ bothered about etc etc etc
The solution is simple and stairing one in the face

1 - book as early as possible to get exactly the holiday one wants. Flight, transfer, accomodation, time, ski hire etc.
This gets the juices and interest going with something to look forward to.

2 - Watch the last minute offers like a hawk all winter. And book one's holiday when the price/offer is so good that it would be criminal to NOT to book it
This keeps the juices and interest going all season and is a great excuse to look at a wide variety of webcams/snow reports/piste maps/accomodation reviews/you tube videos etc etc etc

Advantages are that you get two holidays ......
A whole season of excitement ...
A huge range of questions to ask/discuss on here ....

Yep
bandit is right - probably the most compelling argument in favour of the added safety of a helemt.
When I was working out their I had buckets of injuries amongst guests and I can only remember one where the wearing of a helmet would have made much of a difference (stiches needed on scalp after mono skier came in at head height out of control).
But the environment has changed in the last 20 years or so.
Not so much busier but faster definately.
And the accesibility of more advanced skiing to less experienced skiers, as bandit says, has made a difference.
I can see the sense in wearing a helmet, but am still going to remain a helmet free zone and trust to my attention to keep out of trouble.
I never work out the TOTAL cost - too frightening and if my OH found out she may ban ski holidays.
By the time the dog is in kennels, a present for the neighbour for feeding cats, car parking, buying things at airport (both ends - not me but other people), etc etc etc etc etc.
I just mention the headline price and hope for the best
So far it has worked
Mind you I don't think OH has any idea of cost of lift pass because, as a non-skier she has always decided to spend the equivalent on herself. This has tended to be £50 or so, so maybe she thinks this is the cost of a lift pass :?:
I'm keeping quiet.
Global warming ?
Things do expand as they get warmer!
Sad, nostalgia looms .....
I lived in 1600 for 3 seasons and Deux Tetes was such a great place to play when I had little time.
Up Mont Blanc, up the drag (nearly always empty) then the piste itself or as you mentioned all that stuff underneath and over towards the Cachette.
Ah well .....
