They are quite famous resorts and Megeve use to be a very expensive place. I don't know now.
La Clusaz it's nice. They are doing a good job on architecure, and if i recall well, slopes are good. |

You can contact some private transfer, which ends up a bit more expensive than the bus, but not too much (bus is 90 euros pp return and private transport could be around 100 or 120 euros return pp) and much quicker :D(around 2h30 vs 4h00 with bus) or hire a car and drop it in europcar in Bourg st Maurice and pick your family from there.
The hire car companie is near the train station, so they can drop the car and take the bus to Tignes (around 10 euros pp and 45 min. to 1 h), but that will be a very long day for them ! :!: With a car Tignes is only 30 min. from Bourg st maurice (more or less if it's Les Brevieres or Val Claret) If you want some info on private transfer companies, pm me. |

I confirm jonG answer. There is no train station in Val D'Isere itself. You have to book your train to Bourg saint Maurice and then take a bus from there to Val. Try to book your bus too if you come in peak season. The bus companie is called Autocars Martin. They have a web site. Cheers ! |

Val claret is higher than Le Lac, it's where you get the funicular for the glacier. Good bars, restaurants and shop there.
