Which is best??
Started by User in Ski Fitness, 5 Replies
OK folks, I'm a skier with pretty good level of fitness, but i want to improve my leg stamina a touch as I've got 13 days coming up in January. I already do a lot of bike work (spinning etc) and a few weights and core exercises.

What I would like your thoughts on is this. I've got plenty of time for some extra gym sessions over the Xmas break and which one of these do you think will give more more benefit for my leg strength/stamina-

a. Treadmill work
b. Cross Trainer
c Stepper

I personnally think the old fashioned stepper has the edge, but then i'm no expert!

Thoughts appreciated!

I suspected that champs was the case Brucie. Would normally have been there myself, but you know what work can be like at times. I'm going on the 31 Jan instead this year, taking the mrs who's never been to Hinterglemm, although i've had 6 weeks out there.
Not looking forward to the euro exchange rate, but there's no dodging that wherever you go at the minute.
Webcams are looking good at the minute with what looks like some good fresh stuff going down, fingers crossed I should get a good week out there, wonder if they'll still do some RAF discounts round the bars and restuarants!!!

Hi folks,

I'm looking at going to Hinterglemm for a week, possibly around the 31 Jan 09. Can someone please advice me which are the best/most reasonable tour operators that travel here??? Only after cheap and cheerful B&B or self catering.

All options considered,

Thanks in advance

Hi folks,

A bit of advice from the collective masses out there please if possible.
I'm currently serving in the armed forces in a hot and dusty place, not returning to Blighty until ealry April. I'm looking at getting away for my yearly ski fix, but its obviously gonna be a late one.
I've checked out a few place on the net, and the one that has caught my eye so far is Killington in New England.
Can someone please pass on any info they have on this area. I'll be new to skiing in the USA having been in the Alps for many years.
Is this a good place for snow at this time of year, is the skiing any good? any nightlife to be had??
Basically anything you've got would be great, or any alternatives for mid april will be looked into.

Many thanks

John

Mid April - Where to go folks please?

I'm based in the midlands so happy to fly from all places from London up to Manchester.
And I'm afraid money is a object so the southern hemisphere is just out of reach!!!

Due to my job sending me somewhere hot dusty for 4 months, I'm missing out on my usual dose of ski fun this winter. I won't be able to book anything until 14 Apr 08.
Can someone point me in the direction of where I would be best looking at for going away for a week or 10 days at this time of year.
Alps would be fine, at a push and stretching the money I could probably do Canada or USA, but whats the general opinion of whether there is likely to be anything worthwhile left to ski on at this time of year.

Thanks for you time
